Leasing a horse through Ridgefield Arena

          So your child comes home and is all excited. He/She is ready to lease a horse! What does this mean to you? It is a great opportunity for your child to gain more riding experience and skill.  It also means investing in tack, getting your child out to the arena over the weekend and supervising their safety. It also means ensuring proper care of the horse such as grooming and bathing as necessary. Our horses work hard all week in the lesson program and they appreciate extra care, treats and reasonable exercise. Please do not excessively canter/ride your horse for long periods of time.

          Ridgefield leases two types of horses, show horses and lesson horses. Leasing a show horse means that your child is ready to begin showing at local as well as out of town shows that offer his/her skill levels. Leasing a lesson horse allows a student more practice time and does not require the commitment of showing. A weekend lease of a horse runs from Friday through Sunday. The lease of a show horse is $350.00 a month while a lesson horse is $320.00 a month. A $50.00 deposit is required when leasing.

          There is a lease agreement filled out between Ridgefield and the lessee. Lease payments are due the first of the month and are considered late after the 10^th. A $20.00 late fee will apply to all late payments.

          There is a waiting list for both types of lease horses. If you do not plan to commit to a long term lease there is no guarantee that there will be a horse available when you can lease. A 30 day written notice is needed by Ridgefield when a lease is being terminated. Upon receipt of the notice the $50.00 deposit will be applied to the last month’s lease payment. If a written 30 day notice is not received the deposit will be forfeited.  As stated before there is a waiting list and horses not being leased on a regular basis will be leased to others on that wait list.
